I was so happy to be paired with Anne Shifley for the classmate portrait in the advanced techniques class. She has a bright smile and talkative and open personality. We had a great time working together and I felt really satisfied with experimenting and being able to light a subject well.

Lighting Research - Photos by Michael Nichols
We were assigned to find a photo that the mood was greatly enhanced by the light in the situation. This photo by Michael Nichols fits that description to me, I think he captured a beautiful expression.
We're also supposed to find a photo where the lighting is a little confusing. This photo obviously uses flash, but I don't know how exactly.
Enjoy!
Back to School
Well, it's time to start making good pictures again. I've put my camera away for a month and tried to pretend that it doesn't matter. However, when I am taking pictures
I always feel so satisfied and productive.
I'm enrolled in Advanced Techniques of Photojournalism and I am going to be learning tons of new things about lighting. This semester, becoming a better photographer will really rely on my willingness to take extra time to get a photo right. I hope that my other classes and my questionable time management won't be obstacles to my photo goals. I guess it's up to me to make sure that they don't.
Will and I are in class together. So many handouts to read!!
Catalin being our TA and teaching us about copy stands.
Campus is pretty.

404 N 10th Street
I'd say 95% of my closest friends live in a single house on 10th St. in Columbia. It makes it really convenient for me because I can just show up and be sure that someone will be there to hang out with me. The house used to be pretty dirty, but everyone worked super hard to clean it up and now it's very pleasant.
